POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Information Services, The SIKU Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and organizing outreach initiatives on data collection and gathering within the application-based platform. The SIKU coordinator will provide demonstrations on how to use the application and data entry from users. The SIKU coordinator will provide community information sessions to Mushkegowuk members through various lines of communication.
REQUIREMENTS
- Post-secondary studies in indigenous studies, earth sciences, environment, conservation biology, landscape ecology, or related field.
- Passionate about community-driven initiatives, Indigenous self-determination, diversity and equity in environmental stewardship and linking scientific research and Indigenous Knowledge
- Experience providing technical support to others with varying skill levels, both onsite and remotely.
- Working knowledge of GIS is an asset.
- Good time management skills, and the ability to plan, prioritize, and work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write, articulate, patience and engagement
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote, cross‐cultural and interdisciplinary work environment.
- Willingness to travel to Mushkegowuk First Nations
- Knowledge of the culture of First Nations, along with an understanding of their aspirations, socio- economic needs, stewardship values, and history
- Ability to speak Cree is an asset
- Have a valid (Class G) Ontario driver’s licence
