Kirkland Lake Forest Products is currently seeking a Certified Electrician.
Summary:
The Electrician must be capable, without direction, of sourcing, connecting, fitting and energizing the plant’s equipment
consistent to provincial regulations and to the equipment’s manufacturer’s specifications. The electrician is expected to
operate and to manipulate relevant hand tools and diagnostic equipment to ensure compliance of the plant’s equipment
to power loads and machine tolerances. The Electrician must, under supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, become
proficient at reading and understanding blue prints, all phases of installing new equipment, laying out power cables,
wiring of mechanical drives and meet speed and power requirements correctly.
In all cases, the Electrician must give priority attention to functional interventions of the plant’s production equipment in
order to minimize down time and lost time. The Electrician must, under direction, become proficient at effective
methods of trouble shooting and repairing electronic components in the plant’s production equipment.
The Electrician, being responsible to and reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and indirectly to the
Production Supervisor, will carryout pre-scheduled and as needed maintenance tasks to ensure the consistent
distribution of power requirements to the plants equipment and electrical systems. He/she will apply his/her knowledge
and considerable skills in troubleshooting, implementation and configuring at all levels of the plant’s performance
including: tooling, during full and partial operational periods and maintenance shut downs.
In addition to the tasks as described in the “Electrical Job Description” the Electrician - Maintenance will possess a
functional knowledge of the plant’s key programmable systems, namely: the CRP 2250 Finger Joint machine, the
Centrifugal Singulators, the Gradexpert scanner and other programmable electronic devices.
Qualifications include:
➢ Minimum 1 year relevant work experience or schooling; Red Seal experience is required.
➢ Working with High voltage power source
➢ Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills to work effectively in a diverse working environment
➢ Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
➢ Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment
➢ Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.
➢ Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
➢ Ability to work in a team environment
➢ Physically fit with ability to lift up to 50 pounds
➢ Must be able to work from heights on ladders, scaffold, stairs and roof tops
➢ Undertake repeated physical maneuvering that include in isolation or in combination, lifting, bending, walking,
pulling and other physical capacities
➢ Must have valid driver’s licence as well as own transportation to and from worksite
Wage starts at 32.75$ and depends on relative experience.
Electrician will be on days Monday to Friday and will be on a call schedule.
