Respiratory Therapist

Temporary full-time position for a 1 year term with the possibility of extension

Salary ranges from $34.74 to $48.09 per hour

Percentage in lieu of benefits

Key Responsibilities

• Administer respiratory therapy treatments and procedures as prescribed by physicians.
• Assess patients’ respiratory conditions and respond to changes in their clinical status.
• Operate and maintain respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators, oxygen therapy devices, and nebulizers.
• Monitor and record patient responses to therapy and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and equipment usage.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gases, spirometry, and pulmonary function tests.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in emergency code situations and provide airway management

Qualifications

• Diploma in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in the province of Ontario.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required;
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience in acute care or hospital setting preferred.
• Ability to provide services in English and French preferred.
