Full job description
Job Summary
Do you have a sense of adventure and a passion for operating heavy machinery? D&A Outdoors Ltd. is looking for a dependable AZ Driver and Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This role is essential to our operations, with tasks that range from hauling logs out of rugged forest roads to transporting equipment on flatbeds—and no two days are the same. Some days will find you deep in the woods handling logging operations, other days tackling excavation work, and sometimes switching roles to support your team with entirely different tasks. If you thrive on variety, teamwork, and the chance to work in unique environments, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Confidently operate heavy equipment, including backhoes, excavators, loaders, and graders, to support logging, excavation, and general construction tasks.
- Haul logs from remote forest roads and transport equipment on flatbeds, ensuring secure loading and unloading each time.
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs to keep our equipment running smoothly and safely.
- Collaborate with a team, adapting to changing roles as needed based on project requirements.
- Loading and unloading trucks, always handling materials and equipment with care.
- Follow strict safety protocols, from equipment handling to navigating forest roads and construction sites.
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and transportation records.
- Promptly report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or road conditions to management to ensure timely action.
Requirements
- Proven experience in heavy equipment operation, particularly with backhoes, loaders, and excavators.
- Grader experience would be a big plus.
- Valid AZ commercial driver’s license required.
- Experience with log hauling and flatbed trucking is a strong asset.
- Driver’s abstract must show no more than 8 demerit points.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including subzero temperatures, and to take on physically demanding tasks.
- Basic automotive repair skills are an asset for minor machinery adjustments and upkeep.
- Sharp attention to detail and a commitment to safety on every job.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
If you’re ready to bring your skills to a team that values adaptability, resilience, and a touch of adventure, we encourage you to apply. At D&A Outdoors Ltd., you’ll be in a role where every project brings a fresh challenge, and your expertise in both driving and heavy equipment operation will help us navigate the road ahead—wherever it leads.
