Individual and Couples Therapist - Psychotherapist or Social Worker

Northern Therapy Clinic

Contract • Kirkland Lake Region

Northern Therapy Clinic is located in Kirkland Lake. We offer in person appointments at our office, in person school based appointments, as well as across Ontario remotely (video or telephone sessions). We are currently seeking an experienced individual and couples therapist, who is a Registered Psychotherapist or Social Worker for contracted work.

This position is in Kirkland Lake (in person and virtual appointments). 

Successful candidate will be provided with:

The candidate will possess:

  • Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or Master's of Social Work
  • Registration with appropriate Ontario regulatory College (CRPO or OCSWSSW) and be at or very close to Independent Practice

  • Professional Liability Insurance upon start-date
  • External Clinical Supervision as needed
  • Training in one or more therapeutic modalities (Gottman, EMDR, EFT, DBT, ACT, CBT, Somatic Experiencing, IFS, etc.)

Experience and/or education in any of the following specializations are strongly considered an asset:

  • DBT training is considered an asset
  • Focus on autism or neurodivergence also considered an asset

Successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently (self-motivated, organized, clinically competent) as well as part of a team (working collaboratively and professionally, upholding policies and practices of NTC)
  • Proficiency in assessment, therapeutic interventions, and building safe, respectful, empathetic and trusting therapeutic alliances
  • Ability to assess risk, and understand reporting obligations, and understanding of relevant legislation
  • Ability to tailor interventions to clients’ specific needs, goals and strengths
  • Dedication to continued professional development
  • Strong level of self-awareness and use-of-self safely, effectively, and informatively in session
  • Openness to learning, collaboration, and growth
  • Comfortability with offering sessions via phone and video
  • Demonstration of cultural awareness and humility
