Alamos Gold Inc. Young-Davidson is currently recruiting the following challenging position to join
our Operations team: Safety, Training and Risk Supervisor

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest
underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between
Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The recent completion of a highly
automated lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production as well as
strong free cash flow generation. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’
foundation for growth for many years to come. This is a very exciting time at Young-Davidson, and

The Safety, Training and Risk Supervisor will be responsible for promoting a safe work
environment by ensuring safety regulations are clear, well understood and unambiguous and by
developing systems, policies and strategies to ensure compliance and eliminate preventable
injuries. To collect and analyze data relating to the implementation of preventative strategies,
critical incidents and injury frequency rates.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Supervise UG and Surface Trainer(s) /Emergency Response Coordinator;
• Supervise Safety Coordinators;
• Update and maintain the site training programs to ensure regulatory compliance;
• Facilitate risk assessments, which may include project risk assessments;
• Work with other departments at site to identify critical risks controls and develop and
implement verification strategies;
• Develop, maintain and audit safety management systems that are consistent with company
practices, and reflective of company standards and legislations;
• Support departments in the development, review and maintenance of policies and
procedures;
• Ensure all document control standards are achieved;
• Participate in and develop resources for Safety Meetings. Effectively communicate
information and assist in the development of training modules;
• Support in training supervisors on the safety management system;
• Participate in incident investigations. Facilitate root cause analysis techniques. Ensure all
incident investigations and reporting meets a required standard of quality;
• Audit, maintain and update safety systems with the goal of improving safety records and
ongoing compliance to industry regulations;
• Develop and promote strategies for enforcing safety standards and regulations at a mine
site;

• Assist the department Superintendent to forecast safety related expenditures and manage
the budget and allocation of funds;
• Ensure standards and systems for handling safety infractions are consistently applied to all
incidents;
• Provide leadership to the Safety & Training Teams;
• Provide clear work objectives and expectations to direct reports on the performance levels
required to achieve business plans and department targets;
• Manage performance by setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, providing
feedback and coaching direct reports; and
• Promote and maintain a high-performance culture.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
• 5-10 years’ experience of safety and training management experience in a mining
environment;
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role;
• Thorough understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act and all applicable codes
and laws pertaining to the Ontario mining industry;
• Able to be flexible, decisive and use superb judgment in decision making;
• Effective ability to convey messages in an organized, clear and succinct way;
• The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self-motivation and strong
organizational skills;
• Excellent inter-personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a
cooperative team effort; and
• Good communication skills, both orally and written with both internal and external contacts
and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.

Schedule: 8-hour Shifts on a 5/2 schedule, or 10-hour shifts on a 4/3 schedule
