About Keepers of the Circle

Keepers of the Circle is an Indigenous Hub operated by the Temiskaming Native Women’s Support Group (TNWSG), a non-profit organization incorporated in 1997 to promote the economic, cultural, and social equity of Indigenous women, girls, and gender diverse peoples.

 

About the Role

Keepers of the Circle is looking to recruit a Project Coordinator to organize and manage our Indigenous Women in Skilled Trades (IWST) project. The IWST project in an initiative focused on the recruitment and retention of Indigenous women apprentices in the Red Seals trades while building on the Canadian Apprenticeship strategy. Through this initiative, Keepers of the Circle is looking to promote meaningful careers within the skilled trades for Indigenous women across Canada by increasing recruitment activities and working with industry partners to improve their training and placements to better support Indigenous apprentices.

 

This role will be focused on managing timelines and activities to ensure that all project objectives are achieved. As the Project Coordinator, you will work with the IWST project team and the Training Team to streamline training members and new recruits into registered apprenticeships. This includes developing and adapting internal intake processes, data collection and evaluation, and creating innovative strategies and approaches to connect with new and existing apprentices. In this position, you will also be responsible for guiding skilled trades partnership development with employers and unions and assisting when needed to engage with community and industry partners, such as creating partner deliverables and supporting working group sessions with different stakeholders.

 

This position is on a full-time (35 hrs per week) basis. In person work based out of our training centre in Kirkland Lake, ON is preferred, but this position can be remote.

 

Requirements:

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills and is comfortable leading presentations and workshops with management teams

·         Previous experience managing projects and teams with demonstrable leadership skills

·         Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

·         Ability to document learnings, evaluate information and feedback gathered, and present information in a formal report and/or presentation

·         Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices

·         Experience working in a group within an Indigenous community setting

·         Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to multi-task

·         Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a dynamic environment

·         Strong proficiency of MS Office is required

·         Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgment

·         Non-judgmental and inclusive

·         Respect to diversity

·         Able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times

·         Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

·         Understanding and familiarity of the skilled trades or a strong willingness to learn
