Work Schedule: 5-5-4 rotation, 12-hour shifts.  Although this is the established schedule, the company reserves the right to modify it as needed to meet operational requirements.

Compensation: Hourly, based on experience and qualifications.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

Northern Sun Mining currently has an exciting opportunity for a Sample Prep Technician to join our Metallurgical department. Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, the ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and processing samples for analysis in a laboratory setting. This role is vital in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results while adhering to safety and quality standards. Please note that this is not a camp-based position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for daily preparation of mill samples for assaying: Crushing and pulverizing samples, Rolling samples to ensure proper mixing, Splitting samples for both in-house and external assays and Filtering samples as required.

• Maintain accurate records of all samples in both the logbook and computer database: Logging millrun samples daily and recording concentrate values on an as-needed basis.

• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Work in compliance with prescribed company policies and procedures
• Be proactive with company safety initiatives
• Additional tasks as assigned by the Lab Supervisor and/or Engineering Personnel.    

QUALIFICATIONS 

• High school diploma; post-secondary education in Chemical Engineering Technology or Metallurgical Engineering Technology or equivalent relevant work experience is an asset.
• Lab experience in an industrial environment is highly regarded.  
• Basic Mill Process Operator Common Core is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license.  
• Capable of performing physical tasks.
• Strong ability to accurately measure, record, and analyze data.
• Sound understanding of sampling procedures, quality control standards, and safety protocols.
• Ability to clearly report findings and collaborate effectively with team members.
• Advanced computer skills, including high proficiency in operating spreadsheets and word processing software.
