Secondary Trades (Shop) Teacher

Constance Lake Education Authority is accepting applications for a High School Trades Teacher at the Mamawmatawa Holistic Education Centre, a facility providing community-based education from Early Childhood to Grade 12 learners. The position will consist of teaching the following secondary level courses:

·      Technological Education

The teacher works to lead students through on-the-job training experiences and hands-on projects that teach fundamental math, science, and communication skills. The ideal candidate is an experienced tradesman who is passionate about teaching and passing down their knowledge to the next generation. (e.g., woodworking, automotive, metal).  The ability to manage a busy, hands-on workshop environment with multiple students working on active projects

Employment: Contracted, Full-Time

Salary: Based on QECO rating/experience.

Qualifications:

·      Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teacher

·      Ontario College of Teacher Certificate

·      Bachelor of Arts/Science and Bachelor of Education (Bed) - Technological Education

·      Teachers qualified to teach in the Intermediate and Senior divisions require two subject specialties and are certified to teach Grades 7 to 10 and Grades 11 to 12.

·      Teachers with qualifications in Technological Studies have teaching specialties in one or more of the broad-based technologies.

·      Ability to speak and understand the Ojibway-Cree language is a definite and desirable asset

·      Must go through a pre-employment screening by completing a drug and alcohol test as per CLEA Policy.

·      Will be required to submit criminal records check and vulnerable sector check and required to submit a medical clearance certificate.
