Work Schedule: 5-5-4 rotation, 12-hour shifts. Although this is the established schedule, the company reserves the right to modify it as needed to meet operational requirements.

Compensation: Hourly, based on experience and qualifications.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

Northern Sun Mining currently has an exciting opportunity for a Yard Heavy Duty Equipment Operator to join our Operations department. Reporting to the Operations Shift Supervisor, the ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of heavy-duty equipment, including loaders, dozers, and other machinery, to support yard operations and ensure efficient material handling. Please note that this is not a camp-based position.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, pushing, moving, clearing of man doors, among other tasks.
• Safely and efficiently perform snow removal on company property and roads using a plow.
• Receive and unload incoming material shipments.
• Assist Loadout Operator with loading concentrate into trucks.
• Conduct pre-operation checks and documentation.
• Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, and other relevant information.
• Utilize and maintain all prescribed safety equipment.
• Proficiently operate a two-way radio when required.
• Work in compliance with prescribed company policies and procedures.
• Be proactive with company safety initiatives.
• Additional tasks as assigned by the Operations Shift Supervisor and/or Operations General Foreman.  

QUALIFICATIONS 

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid heavy equipment operator certification is highly regarded.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in operating heavy equipment is preferred.
• Surface Miner Common Core is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to operate equipment in all weather conditions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for addressing equipment issues.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
