Financial Analyst
Timmins and District Hospital

Under the general direction of the Director, Financial Services and Reporting. This individual will have responsibility for accounting, finance, business analysis and management decision support for the overall organization. This includes month and year-end accounting; reconciliations; monthly and quarterly management reporting; meaningful results analysis; government reporting; and annual audits for the organization and assigned programs. They will also play a role in business analysis and management decision support by creating and maintaining detailed budget and forecast models; designing and providing valuable management reports and metrics; providing thorough analyses of results against budget and forecast; and provide expertise in compliance matters and business processes.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare monthly journal entries and analyses.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements for various stakeholders.
- Prepare quarterly variance reports for stakeholders to facilitate decision making.
- Responsible for chart of cost center and internal order setup and maintenance.
- Involved in budgeting process and support to management.
- Provide sound and timely financial and business information to the senior leadership team and clinical programs.
- Performs detailed reconciliations.
- Monitor, analyze and reconcile variances from approved plan, taking remedial action to attain budgeted targets and mitigate run rates.
- Assist in the preparation of cash flow, working capital and total margin projections and analysis.
- Assists in year-end audit.
- Assists management as required in ad-hoc/complex/specialized assignments.
- Performs cross-functional duties and other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
- Create business cases for new initiatives, as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant field (e.g. bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration and/or relevant field).
- Working towards completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA) and/or a Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an asset.
- Related experience in an accounting environment with exposure to a range of accounting principles, practices and procedures – preferably within a hospital setting.
- Ontario Health Reporting Standards (OHRS) knowledge is an asset.
- Strong aptitude for analysis, interpretation, and presentation of financial and statistical data.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent client service and satisfaction.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with strong organization and time management skills.
- Ability to take initiative and embrace challenges.
- Skill in accurately performing detailed numerical computations in a timely manner using large amounts of financial and/or statistical data.
- Sound professional judgment, initiative, and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- Adheres to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial data and information.
- Strong knowledge of computer application accounting systems & software applications, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e., Excel, Word).
- Experience using other business intelligence applications is an asset.

· Option to enroll in Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
