looking for a Shop Foreman to help lead our progressive team into the future.
Position Summary:
The Shop Foreman will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the
shop, including supervising and assisting apprentices and technicians, managing
workflow, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe and productive work
environment. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with experience in
automotive repair and shop management.
Key Responsibilities:
As an integral part of the dealership's operation, the Shop Foreman will be responsible for the following:
- Oversee Shop Operations: Manage the day-to-day activities of the service repair shop, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently.
- Lead, Coach, and Train Technicians & Apprentices: Supervise, mentor, and provide hands-on training for automotive service technicians and apprentices, helping them improve their skills and resolve complex repair and maintenance issues.
- Ensure Quality Repairs & Customer Service: Oversee the repair procedures and ensure that vehicles are repaired correctly and in a timely manner to meet customer satisfaction standards. Notify service advisors of any work delays or additional repairs that may be required.
- Resolve Difficult Repair Issues: Assist technicians and apprentices with the resolution of difficult vehicle repair and maintenance problems, providing guidance and expertise where necessary.
- Maintain Inventory & Recommend Purchases: Keep accurate inventory records of tools, equipment, and parts. Make recommendations for the purchase of new tools and equipment to improve shop operations.
- Review Vehicle Comebacks: Evaluate all vehicle comebacks to identify the root causes and take proactive measures to avoid repeat issues.
- Collaborate with the Service Manager: Work closely with the service manager to address customer concerns, monitor shop performance, and help implement strategies for continual improvement.
- Improve Shop Efficiency: Identify and take action to improve shop efficiency, including motivating staff, streamlining work processes, implementing innovative methods, and making modifications to working conditions to optimize productivity.
- Ensure Compliance: Ensure all work complies with safety standards, industry regulations, and dealership policies, and that quality control procedures are strictly followed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional certifications or technical training preferred).
- Experience in the automotive repair industry, and/or experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong technical knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repairs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license
- 310S certification
- Ozone depletion is considered an asset
