Misiway Milopemahtesewin Community Health Centre, located in Timmins ON is established to provide quality programs and services that honour, respect and support Indigenous culture, values and healing practices, complemented by western approaches to primary health care.
We are searching for an experienced Family Support Worker who will offer counselling and case management services to families participating in Misiway’s Land-based Programming. This service uses a traditional Indigenous approach to care delivery.

Job Title: Family Support Worker Salary Range: $48,000 - $63,800

Bring your proven Family Support Worker experience to a challenging and rewarding role in our Community Health Centre. As our Family Support Worker, you will provide support to families in their healing journey using culture as treatment, reconnecting them with the healing powers of the land. Your service will involve both counselling and case management services to create a network of support based on the family’s input. The Medicine Wheel and Seven Grandfather teachings will guide the direction of service and the tools used to provide care. Care will be delivered using a variety of options such as one-on-one and group sessions, land-based activities and traditional ceremonies relevant to children, youth and families, according to the family’s need and preference.
As a successful candidate your qualifications will include:
§ Bachelor of Social Work or Social Services Work preferred. Diploma in social services field along with relevant work experience will be considered.
§ Minimum 2 years of experience in social services field working with Indigenous families
§ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
§ Experience with trauma-informed care delivery is an asset
§ Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications
§ Ability to organize time, set priorities and multi-task in order to meet various timelines
§ Ability to work flexible work hours to meet client needs
§ Class G driver’s licence and use of a vehicle are required
§ Ability to speak Cree or Ojibway is considered an asset
