Misiway Milopemahtesewin Community Health Centre, located in Timmins ON is established to provide quality programs and services that honour, respect and support Indigenous culture, values and healing practices, complimented by western approaches to primary health care. Misiway Milopemahtesewin Community Health Centre is one of two Aboriginal community health centres in Ontario. Our Child and Youth program provides services to a number of First Nation communities in outlying areas around Timmins. Misiway maintains a network of community partnerships and relationships with Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal organizations.
The Opportunity:
Job Title: Health Promoter/Client Navigator Salary Range: $62,000 - $75,500

Bring your proven experience in Health Promotion to a challenging and rewarding role at our Aboriginal Community Health Centre. Working closely with team members and community partners within our catchment area, our Health Promoter will develop, implement and evaluate programs that promote health and wellbeing in a culturally relevant manner. Incorporating Indigenous methods and approaches to Health and Wellbeing is a critical component of this work.
As a successful candidate your qualifications will include:
§ Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion, Social Services or Health-related Professions
§ Minimum 2 years of experience working in Health Promotion capacity that includes the application of Traditional Aboriginal approaches to Health and Wellbeing
§ Ability to develop, implement and evaluate performance indicators to evaluate programming
§ Effective leadership, communication, group facilitation and interpersonal skills
§ Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
§ Sensitivity to the needs of a multi-cultural community and willingness to apply principles of Truth and Reconciliation in the work of a Health Promoter
§ Class G Driver’s Licence and use of a vehicle is required
§ Ability to speak Cree or Ojibway is considered an asset
