Position: Shovel Operator (Direct Hire)

Wage: $31.00–$35.00/hour (based on experience) + Overtime after 44 hours

Northern Labour Supply Services (NLSS) is currently recruiting Shovel Operators on behalf of our client, a well-established mining contractor operating at an open-pit site in the Timmins area. This is a direct-hire opportunity, with all successful candidates joining the client's workforce directly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate large hydraulic or electric shovels to safely and efficiently load haul trucks with rock, ore, and overburden
• Perform daily pre-operational inspections and report mechanical or safety concerns
• Maintain proper digging techniques and load placement to optimize production and minimize equipment wear
• Work collaboratively with dispatch and other operators via radio communication
• Follow site-specific safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment

Requirements:

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating large shovels (e.g., Komatsu PC4000, Hitachi EX3600, CAT 6060 or similar) in an open-pit mine
• Valid Ontario G-Class Driver’s License and reliable transportation to and from the site
• Willing and able to complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Comfortable working 12-hour day and night shifts on a 5 days on / 2 days off rotation
• Must have or be willing to complete:
  • WHMIS certification
  • Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
  • Site-specific induction
